Big Weekend Coming
January 2nd, 2008After shaking off the snow covered cobwebs from New Year’s; we’re right back to work. The Empire Dine and Dance is excited about our big weekend coming up. Here’s a great example a diverse weekend we’re going to represent. From Comedy to Tango, Blues, Reggae, and Rock-A-Billy.Wednesday night is the return of Timmy B’s Comedy Hour. Thursday night is Portland’s best reggae band, Royal Hammer, featuring some of Rustic’s horns. Friday night is deep soul, R&B with Kristina Kentigian with Dreamosaic. Stop by after the First Friday art walk. Saturday Night is our monthly Sean Mencher and his Rhythm Kings Rock-a-billy night. Look for this every first Saturday. Sunday early evening is something we’re all excited about here at the Emp. In association with portTango we present a tango instructor at 5PM. At 6PM show us what you learned by dancing to Tango Mucho Labia. Tango on into the night. Hope to see you there! By the way, did you know our kitchen’s open until midnight, like, um, EVERY NIGHT. Ya, I thought you did. Just checking.
Comedy at the Empire
December 12th, 2007This from Timmy B’s Myspace:
Timmy B’s Comedy Power Hour has begun! This one’s been a few months in the making, and it’s gonna be hot! I’ve secured a new room to perform here in Portland, and it’s one of the coolest rooms I’ve ever seen to do comedy in. The potential is HUGE!! Empire, located at the corner of Forest Ave and Congress street here in Portland has opened up its doors to live comedy featuring yours truly! I’ll be putting together shows at this new venue once a month, sometimes twice a month on Wednesday nights at 9pm………it all gets rolling on next Wednesday, December 19th! The first show is a diverse group of comics all hailing from Portland! Dustin Beckelman, just off a national tour performing in Florida, Texas and California! Joe Ricchio of local bartending fame and a regular host at The Comedy Connection in Portland and the Kowloon Comedy Connection in Saugus, MA. Troy Pennell, winner of the 2000 Portland’s funniest professional, and known round the world for his Karaoke skills…. Dan Frederickson, who has been living in LA (the good one) for awhile now, and performing at the Hollywood Improv and all over California… And ME! (Local no talent hack) Tickets are 3 bucks at the door, and you won’t find a show like this within 40 or 50 feet! Empire 879-8988 Come and check out the coolest new spot in Portland!!
